Sport camp and Rungsted cup
Floorball club 1. FBC Karviná participated in the prestigious youth tournament Rungsted Cup 2024, which took place in a picturesque coastal town Hørsholm, near Denmark's capital city Copenhagen. This international tournament that is lesser known by other Czech teams provided the Karvina team with an amazing opportunity to compete exclusively against Danish and Swedish teams and become the only represenetative team from the Czech Republic. Karvina team was supported by athletes from Havirov, making up three age categories between 9 and 15 years old. With strong support of parents, the total number of participants reached 70.
All participants left Karviná on 27 August 2024 on coach, driven by two jolly and talkative drivers. Highlight of the trip was certainly the passing of Rostock-Gedser strait on a ferry, which was accompanied by a beautiful sunrise over the sea. Upon arrival in Denmark, players immediately started preparing for the tournament, including training sessions and friendly matches with local teams, which enabled them to be better prepared for the actual competition.
Prior to the tournament, the team spent in total two days training at the venue, and took a one-day trip to the historical city of Copenhagen, to get some time for learning and relaxation. The team also visited local beaches in Horsholm, getting to appreciate that with sea temperature of only 18°C, the local opponents who grew up in this region were bound to be very tough and unbreakable. Swimming in the Baltic sea contributed to the regeneration and overall well-being of the team.
And the highlight of the trip? The Rungsted tournament itself! 812 athletes took part in the tournament and teams from Karvina competed in three categories (U11, U13 and U15). The U15 team achieved extraordinary success by winning gold(!),the U13's came in a great 3rd place and the U11's came in 4th. All three teams put on stellar performances that attracted attention of many Danish and Swedish rivals, as well as their supporters. This trip was a great success for the club, as it received wide recognition and a number of invitations to other tournaments in Denmark and Sweden. Last, but not least, friendships with other teams and players were made and the Karvina and Havirov teams grew even tighter, overall contributing to an all-round development of the club.
Following the trip back home that was full of singing and celebration, the whole 'expedition' returned home safely on 2nd September 2024. The club is already planning more similar camps abroad in the coming seasons, as such trips always bring unforgettable moments and extraordinary experiences.
