Two Singaporean national team players participated in an individual training camp that took place in November/December 2022 in Havirov (Czech Republic). It was the first training camp organized by our company that welcomed athletes from abroad.
The camp was attended by two extremely hardworking and talented athletes that were accompanied by their mother. Included in the package was the accommodation, local transportation and a detailed training plan, all fit to the purpose of the stay. A cozy private apartment was chosen as accommodation, located right in the city center, providing fast access to training facilities, shops and other services.
Now onto the most important part - one that made the group travel around the world - and that is the local floorball training process. The task was clear - to create a challenging and enriching and rewarding program for both floorball players. Our head coach Vaclav was selected to oversee the whole stay and for the whole 15 days he took care of not only the training process of the players but also of their general wellbeing.
The schedule was packed. During weekdays, the boys would have individual training sessions in the mornings and afternoons, and a training session with the local team in the evening. Weekends were reserved for special events such as visits to super league matches and a varied cultural program, as well as for some rest and regeneration.
Individual training sessions under the guidance of coach Vaclav took place in a private gym, with a focus on individual player skills, ‘first touch’, 1v1, 2v1, shot accuracy, shot speed, tactical details and last but not least, it included several athletic elements and general physical preparation. Team training sessions took place with high-ranking youth clubs 1. SFK Havirov and 1. FBC Karvina.
And what do the players themselves have to say about the whole camp?
"We were greatly satisfied with the sports camp. The coaches were kind and patient with us and were always ready to help us. Their teaching methods were of good quality as they did not only teach us a lot of new things, but also kept us interested and not a single training session with them was boring. The quality of training was quite good, we trained with a much higher intensity than we are used to, which was exhausting at first, but looking back at it, this is precisely what helped us to improve. The training sessions were of very high intensity compared to Singapore and they focused much more on physical training and athletics. In addition, heavy emphasis is put on simulating game situations. During the two weeks here, we think we became better players.
What we liked the most was how supportive everyone we interacted with was. When we entered the new environment, we were scared at first, but after we realized how friendly the people here are, we immediately relaxed and our stay became much more enjoyable. After the camp, we are definitely happy and motivated to keep working hard. "
Both players attended a total of 32 training sessions in two weeks. During the weekend off, they attended two Super League matches, after which they met with Czech national players Jiří Besta and Matyáš Šindler. On 10th December their stay here in the Czech Republic ended and they set off on their long journey home.
Sport Camps Abroad and all collaborators involved in the organization of this stay with the two athletes every success and look forward to further cooperation.
